It's that time of year again – the Chinese Lunar New Year is approaching, and 2026 is the Year of the Horse.
First, we wish all our partners a Happy New Year, good health, and prosperity!
For brands, printers, and wholesalers sourcing apparel from China, this period is not just a holiday, but a critical time for production planning.
This year's Lunar New Year holiday is earlier than last year, meaning the impact on garment manufacturing and logistics will also come sooner.
Due to workers returning home for the holidays, many garment factories are expected to gradually reduce production and begin shutting down by the end of January. Logistics companies are expected to stop accepting shipments by February 12th at the latest.
What does this mean for buyers?
If orders are not placed early enough, production may be delayed until after the holidays. Once inventory runs out in February or early March, replenishment may not be possible until factories fully resume normal operations.
Most factories will begin reopening around February 24th, but in reality, stable production usually doesn't resume until after March 1st, once all workers have returned and production lines are running smoothly.
Our advice is simple:
Now is the time to check your inventory levels and plan your purchases in advance to avoid unnecessary delays during the holiday period.
